Welcome to my website collection of animal and bird photographs. The images here represent a small personal selection of the favorite wildlife photographs I have captured, the majority of which have been taken in the UK.
Wildlife photography is my passion, although some may call it an obsession. Based in the Wirral in north-west England, I am fortunate to have a wealth of wildlife photographic opportunities on my doorstep.
I exclusively use Canon camera equipment for my work with my current main body of choice being the EOS 1Dmk3 which is usually combined with either the 500mm F4 and 300mm F4 lens. I do own a Gitzo tripod with Wimberley head but it is seldom used unless I am in my hide or on a 'stake out'.
My approach to wildlife photography is to capture the beauty and action of nature in detail and hopefully in wonderful light (although the UK weather often has other plans!).
The images shown on this site are copyrighted to myself, Richard Steel, and the use of any image is not permitted without my prior permission.
All images are available for purchase either as high resolution digital files or as photo lab processed prints. There is a limit to how many images I can show here so I have tried to reserve it to the 'best of the best' but other images of most of these species shown are available on request.
